Release notes 7.02
- More calls. The SIP messages are handled by several threads (-sipThreads, a quarter of the cores by default) and the RTP is read by several (-rtpThreads, half the cores), the calls are made by several threads, and the locks every call went through are gone. On a Core i9-13900 with both sides on the one computer SIP Inspector made 22,000 calls a second and carried 17,500 calls with audio (see Performance and capacity).
- Retransmissions as RFC 3261 says. ;retrans after the arrow of a message sends it again over UDP with the timers of RFC 3261 (T1 and T2: -t1, -t2, Options/SIP Timers), and a copy that comes again is answered as the first one was. A scenario with the ;ReTxCnt=N of earlier versions is read as ;retrans and saved in the new format.
- [branch] is new in every run, and the new keyword [run_tag] goes into the Call-ID of the sample scenarios, so the calls of two runs never look alike to the other side.
- Pauses keep their length under load: they end from timers, also with thousands of calls up.
- Media ports. A call that finds no free media port fails with that reason, and a port that cannot be opened is counted in the run report (rtp.portErrors) instead of being logged for every packet.
- Capacity tests. test/capacity.py measures the calls a second and the calls with audio two computers (or one) can carry. The run report says when SIP Inspector itself dropped messages (local.sipDrops, local.rtpDrops), and GET /system gives the log level of a service.
- Fixes. The Authentication validation dialog shows its whole OK button; the support address is support@sipinspector.com everywhere in the program.
